What this house is

One 1990s brick-veneer house in Melbourne's south-east, run as a small experiment in doing its own energy sums.

In 2025 the gas came out: reverse-cycle heating and cooling, a heat-pump hot water system and induction cooking took its place. In November 2025 a large solar array and a battery were energised. Every half-hour of the meter since July 2024 has been kept, and the battery's control logic has been rewritten as the retail plan changed. The house has had four retailers; the latest is GloBird ZEROHERO.
